As a team leader, the best way to get innovative ideas to go back and forth is to give your team an ownership stake in the projects that they work on. Otherwise, they'll just pump out the final product the way YOU see it, with only minor enhancements.

As I'm in the insurance consulting business, I will add that part of the resource constraints are budget and time deadlines (which somewhat disagrees with the free time assumption you give). As on offset to that, the client's expectations and data can lead to creativity of methods and assumptions, and that is usually fun.

Good job Robert.

I enjoy reading your blog because I find the concepts and techniques you present useful to consider for business AND personal development. In my mind, creativity is essential for "success" in all aspects of life. The Ideative Process is a refreshing look at something innate in us all. Keep up the good work!

Having participated in and led many large and small company sessions dedicated to the creative thinking process and the generation of ideas for new products and/or services, I can see how this process could be valuable in facilitating sessions in which participants are more successful in generating quality ideas. I'm glad I found your site and I'm looking forward to learning more about your process. Perhaps I'll be able to integrate it into the work we do here.

Most attorneys that I know don’t consider themselves to be creative, yet we develop what you refer to as valuable ideas for protecting our clients interests. The ideas are based on our experience and knowledge.

This is a great article. Glad I read it. Looking forward to more.
